Kapustin joins OTP as Contest Judge

Jan 1 2007

On The Premises held its first mini-contest in December 2006.  The challenge was to create a full story in 10-20 words.  OTP received 106 entries from 74 contestants and narrowed the field to 14 finalists before sending those to the judges' panel.  "I felt the winning entry, by Sheila Crosby, clearly had a beginning, middle, and end with a nice emotional twist," said one of the judges, Blanche Kapustin.  "It's difficult to fit so much of an idea into so few words, but Crosby's entry is a wonderful example that it can be done."

The judges were selected for bringing diverse backgrounds and skills to the mix.  Blanche Kapustin was asked to participate for her editing background.

At the end of January, OTP will close its first regular contest.  Writers can submit a short story--up to 5,000 words--based on the premise announced on OTP's home page.  The contest is free to enter, with cash prizes for the top entries.
